About The Role

We are seeking a talented and proactive 2nd Line IT Engineer to join our dynamic IT team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This pivotal role is integral to our ongoing business integration programme, which involves merging systems, processes, and technologies across multiple sites. As a 2nd Line IT Engineer, you will be instrumental in providing advanced technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and supporting the seamless transition of our IT infrastructure during this significant period of change. Working closely with our 1st Line IT Engineers and other stakeholders, you will ensure that our colleagues experience minimal disruption and maximum support throughout the integration process. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of technical challenges, contribute to key project milestones, and influence the future technological landscape of Solus Accident Repair Centres.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in IT support, with relevant certifications and experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues. A strong understanding of Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, and networking equipment such as Meraki, Fortinet, and Cisco is essential. Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are crucial. Prior experience supporting IT infrastructure in a corporate setting, along with familiarity with ticketing systems like HaloITSM, will be highly advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and a collaborative mindset, eager to support and develop their colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of complex incidents and service requests escalated from 1st line support, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Support and guide 1st Line IT Engineers, sharing expertise and helping them develop their technical skills.
  • Handle incoming calls and support tickets daily via HaloITSM, providing efficient and effective solutions.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across hardware, software, and networking platforms, diagnosing issues accurately and efficiently.
  • Support the onboarding and offboarding processes, including hardware configuration, account setup, and asset management.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and ongoing support of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Participate in a shift rota to provide on-call support, including handling P1 incidents on a 24/7 basis.
  • Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, ensuring consistency and knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Collaborate actively within the Solus Service Desk team, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice sharing.
