Role: IT Environment Manager
Type: Contract Inside IR35
Location: Warrington, London or Oxford - 40% office attendance per week
Job Description:
- Oversee networks, servers, cloud platforms and security protocols.
- Deliver infrastructure upgrades, optimisations and migrations.
- Work with 3rd Party suppliers to ensure current technology stacks, including servers, network and cloud services are being maintained.
- Define and implement technical standards and controls for on-premises and cloud environments.
- Ensure cloud and on-premises environments comply with the client’s security policies.
- Provide input to architecture and designs.
- Ensures design integrity and compliance, reviewing and approving supplier proposals, technical designs and solution architectures.
- Responsible for management of risks across client IT technology assets.
- Support performance, resilience, lifecycle and incident response improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as Cyber Team, Enterprise Architecture, Information Governance and relevant external agencies.
- Support ongoing transformation and improvement work.
- Manage the lifecycle of configuration items.
- Ensure continued compliance with Cyber Essentials Plus requirements.

Years Experience
- 10+ years of IT experience in IT infrastructure, network administration, or systems engineering.
Key Outcomes
- A documented, approved set of standards for all environments.
- Ensure all client IT systems are safe and secure for all stakeholders, both internal stakeholders and external governance/regulatory stakeholders.
- Active participation in meeting government GovAssure and CAF cybersecurity target levels.
- Annual maintenance and re-certification of client Cyber Essential Plus.
Key Skills (Current)
- Broad technical expertise across enterprise infrastructure technologies, including Windows Server, VMware, Storage solutions Active Directory and Entra ID alongside Microsoft Azure Platforms.
- Strong networking knowledge including HPE, Fortinet, WAN connectivity and network security.
- Infrastructure Manager or similar leadership role in an outsourced IT environment.
- Strong understanding of IT Security, backup and disaster recovery.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a matrix management fashion with all stakeholders relevant to the role.
- This includes third party MSPs.
- Experienced in infrastructure design, project management and project delivery.
- Understanding of compliance requirements in a heavily regulated environment.
- Ability to create solutions and implement risk mitigation controls for legacy IT solutions.

Key Skills (Target)
- Detailed knowledge of new and emerging technology (such as AI and Quantum for example) and its impacts on current estate and new solutions.
- Ability to define, create and implement reporting measures for all stakeholders to provide clarity on the functions of IT security to provide ongoing confidence.
- Ability to manage 3rd party MSPs as the client’s intelligent customer with respect to all aspects of the environments.
