Overview

We are searching for a IT Field Engineer to provide onsite and remote technical support to internal staff and external clients using our software Evolve.

Your goal is to resolve complex incidents and service requests efficiently, restoring normal operations as well as support and guide 1st Line IT Engineers, prioritise tickets, and allocate time effectively to meet the highest needs.

You will be travelling to various UK sites, optimising your schedule to address incidents and service requests promptly.

Responsibilities

As a IT Field Engineer, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and solve IT issues across various areas.
  • Be responsible for the installation, configuration and support of IT systems.
  • Guide and support 1st Line IT Engineers for their success.
  • Escalate issues as needed and collaborate with the team to resolve it.
  • Report concerns, risks and cyber incidents to the IT leadership team.
  • Follow internal documentation to ensure consistency.
  • Providing detailed understanding of the end users requests.
  • Provide system/device performance information and error logs.
  • Remove blockers, resolve incidents and process service requests with the team.
  • Build, configure and prepare devices for deployment.
  • Deliver and roll out equipment to new starters and existing colleagues in person.
  • Transport, collect and securely handle IT equipment, including returned and retired assets.
  • Support new-site openings, including device deployment and other onsite IT activities.
  • Assist with the decommissioning and clearance of older sites, working alongside other teams as required.
  • Work confidently without continuous onsite supervision and provide regular progress updates to the Service Desk and project teams.
  • Take appropriate care of company equipment and vehicles while travelling between locations.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

What do I need to know?

  • Advanced support knowledge of IT systems and infrastructures.
  • Experience with Windows OS, O365 and Azure.
  • FreshService, ITILv4, DNS and DHCP experience.
  • A working knowledge of cloud-based infrastructures.
  • Enjoy working with people, developing rapport at all levels of the business with superb communication skills.
  • Self-motivation and willingness to learn and explore new ideas.
  • Self-awareness and confidence of when and how to say “no”.

You Should Also

  • Hold a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving long distances.
  • Be willing to stay away from home for several days at a time, occasionally for up to one week.
  • Be punctual, dependable and able to attend sites at agreed times.
  • Be flexible as locations, schedules and the length of site visits may change according to project requirements.
