Role: IT Field Engineer
Location: Barnsley, Yorkshire - Home/Field Based
Salary: £32,000 + Car Allowance £400 per month
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with experience in IT support or networking that has a good experience of working with routers and basic networking protocols to join a growing technical team, providing onsite and remote engineering support to customers within Yorkshire and beyond.
The role would suit someone with a background in networking or IT, who enjoys working in a customer-facing environment and has a practical, hands-on approach to technical problem solving.
The Role
The successful Field Engineer will be responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading IT equipment and services at customer sites, data centres and BT exchanges.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Installing pre-configured routers, switches, modems and other telecoms equipment.
- Carrying out onsite maintenance and fault-finding to restore customer services.
- Supporting the migration and upgrade of customer services to new technologies.
- Carrying out power, fibre and structured cabling within equipment racks.
- Recording job details, test results and engineer notes accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Ensuring customer SLAs are consistently achieved.
- Managing tools, test equipment and company assets responsibly.
- Re-boxing, labelling and returning equipment to the appropriate logistics or warehouse location.
- Always providing a professional and customer-focused service.

What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have at least two years' experience within Telecoms or IT, together with strong practical and diagnostic skills.
You must have a driving license to be considered for this role.
Experience with routers and switches, configuration loading, structured cabling and remote access/troubleshooting would be advantageous.
Most importantly, the successful candidate will be technically capable, organised and confident dealing directly with customers. They will need a strong diagnostic mindset, good time-management skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
