IT Field Engineer

West Sussex Area

Up to £35,000 + Van + Fuel Card + Overtime
(Internal Job Level Reference: Senior Associate)

Focus Group is a technology services company backed by Hg Capital, supporting over 30,000 SME customers across the UK. Following our $1bn valuation in 2024, we're scaling fast and investing heavily in the people who keep our customers running.

We're looking for an IT Field Engineer to join our team in West Sussex. This is a role for someone with broad, hands-on technical knowledge across the full IT stack, who's just as comfortable configuring a firewall as they are troubleshooting a laptop or setting up Microsoft 365. You'll be out on the road visiting customer sites, so if you love variety and solving different problems every day, this is for you.

What you'll be doing

  • Installing, configuring and maintaining a wide range of IT solutions for customers ranging from small businesses to enterprise
  • Getting hands-on with networking equipment — firewalls, routers, switches and wireless technology — as a core part of your day-to-day work
  • Supporting Microsoft technologies including Windows Desktop, Windows Server and M365, plus cloud platforms like Azure, Intune and SharePoint
  • Carrying out field fault visits to resolve time-critical hardware and service issues
  • Playing a key role in multi-technology projects across multiple sites
  • Auditing and documenting client infrastructure
  • Working closely with project management, 3rd Line Engineers and the Service Desk

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
