IT Field Project Engineer - Networks
Slough + field based across the local area
£35,000 - £45,000 + £4,000 annual car allowance
Walk into a site. Work out what needs improving. Get it working properly.
If that sounds like your kind of engineering, this could be your next move.
You’ll join a growing, multi-site business with a clear task: bring its network infrastructure up to a consistent, reliable standard.
Some sites need new equipment. Others need a refresh. And when the connection goes down, they need someone who can investigate, find the fault and resolve it.
You’ll be hands-on throughout, from the initial survey and equipment preparation through to installation and handover.
What’s in it for you?
- Variety: a mix of planned installations, network upgrades and day-to-day support across different sites.
- Ownership: the freedom to assess unfamiliar setups, make practical decisions and organise your workload.
- A clear technical focus: networking is at the heart of the role, with Ubiquiti/UniFi routers, switches and access points forming the standard setup.
- Room to grow: scope to get involved in bringing newly acquired sites into the business, coordinating suppliers, equipment and IT requirements.
- A wider benefits package: 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, an additional wellbeing day, private medical insurance and a healthcare cash plan.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Alongside the planned projects, you’ll support day-to-day technical issues and work with the service desk to keep users connected and sites running smoothly.
- As the business grows, you’ll help new sites get up and running on its IT standards.

What you’ll need
- You’ll have hands-on experience in field IT support, infrastructure or network engineering, with a solid understanding of routers, switches, firewalls and Wi-Fi.
- You’re comfortable investigating a setup you haven’t seen before, working independently and explaining technical issues to people who don’t work in IT.

- A full UK driving licence and your own vehicle are essential. You’ll also need to pass an enhanced DBS check.
- Most travel will be across the local area, with occasional trips further afield and overnight stays where needed.
