Service Desk Apprentice
Portal Technologies are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic apprentice to join our growing Service Desk team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience across IT support, cyber security, cloud services, websites, and telecoms while working towards an industry-recognised qualification.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide first-line IT support via phone, email, and remote access.
- Log and manage support tickets, troubleshooting Microsoft 365, hardware, software, and networking issues.
- Set up user accounts, devices, MFA, and business applications.
- Assist with cyber security monitoring, phishing awareness campaigns, and security checks.
- Support website content updates and basic website maintenance.
- Help with telecoms administration, including user accounts, call routing, and handset configuration.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support client onboarding and deployment activities.
About you:
- Passionate about IT and cyber security.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Eager to learn and develop new technical skills.
- Organised, proactive, and keen to solve problems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable knowledge:
Any experience or awareness of the following would be beneficial, but full training will be provided:
- Microsoft 365.
- Windows 11.
- Microsoft Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Networking and cyber security basics.
- Content management systems.
- VoIP telephony systems.
Working hours:
9am - 5.30pm.

They ensure you settle in, help you develop all the skills you need to be successful in your job role and pass your assessments, and can provide one to one support.
Starting with insights into your current potential, they plan your growth in a programmatic way, close skills gaps with immersive training and ensure what you learn is applicable to what you do. They talk you through the specifics on the qualifications you gain and how they align in particular to your day to day role.
On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6.
