IT INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT LEAD

Hours

Full-time, 9:30am - 5.30pm with flexibility required to support system changes, upgrades and critical incidents where necessary.

The Role

The IT Infrastructure and Development Lead is responsible for the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of the firm’s infrastructure, platforms and core technology systems.

The role ensures that the firm’s technology environment is stable, secure, scalable, and aligned to business needs, covering infrastructure, cloud services, and application development.

Working closely with the IT Service Management Lead and Cyber Security & Compliance Lead, the role ensures that systems are delivered and operated in a way that supports service performance, security requirements, and the firm’s wider technology strategy.

Essential

Technical skills and expertise

  • Significant experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or systems development roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, and modern cloud-based environments.
  • Experience managing infrastructure across servers, networks, and end-user computing.
  • Experience delivering system upgrades, migrations, or platform implementations.
  • Strong understanding of system integration, data flows, and automation.
  • Experience working with third-party suppliers and technical partners.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with legal systems such as document management or practice management platforms.
  • Experience with identity management, device management (e.g. Intune), and endpoint security.
  • Awareness of ITIL-based service management practices.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Own the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the firm’s IT infrastructure, including cloud platforms, networks, servers, and end-user computing foundations.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and resilience of core systems and platforms, supporting business continuity and operational stability.
  • Lead the development, configuration, and optimisation of business systems, working closely with stakeholders to deliver enhancements and improvements.
  • Oversee application development activities, including integrations, automation, and data flows between systems.
  • Manage and maintain core platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, identity services, and other business-critical systems.
  • Work closely with the IT Service Management Lead to ensure effective transition of systems into support, including documentation, support models, and handover processes.
  • Collaborate with the Cyber Security & Compliance Lead to ensure infrastructure and systems meet security standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations.
  • Support vulnerability remediation, patching strategies, and system hardening in line with security policies.
  • Define and maintain infrastructure standards, architecture principles, and best practices.
  • Oversee system upgrades, platform migrations, and technology refresh activities.
  • Manage technical relationships with key suppliers and partners, ensuring delivery, performance, and alignment with firm requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance across infrastructure, development, and platform-related activities.
  • Support incident resolution for major or complex infrastructure and system issues where required.
  • Contribute to the firm’s technology roadmap, ensuring infrastructure and platforms support future business needs.
