The role covers network, server, virtualisation, monitoring and security-related infrastructure. It combines project delivery with practical operational support for reference and live environments, including third-line support for transitioned infrastructure. Delivery will follow Agile ways of working and established configuration and change-management processes.

Role is Farnborough based (min 3 days on site) with travel to Malvern and Scotland on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure and maintain IT infrastructure environments, including network and security components.
  • Deliver infrastructure updates and support the design and implementation of new computing environments.
  • Provide project-driven infrastructure support to help achieve agreed schedule, budget, security and quality expectations.
  • Act as a subject-matter resource for IT infrastructure and provide practical technical guidance to the wider team.
  • Support reference and live environments during project delivery and provide third-line support for transitioned infrastructure.
  • Apply engineering good practice for configuration management, change control and technical assurance.

  • Investigate infrastructure faults and performance issues, identify root causes and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Share knowledge across the team and contribute to the development of cross-team operational support capability.
  • Work collaboratively within Agile delivery teams and engage effectively with engineering, project and customer stakeholders.
  • Travel to customer and project sites when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • College diploma, university degree or equivalent practical experience in IT, computing, networking, engineering or a related discipline.
  • UK nationality is preferred due to the nature of the programme and its security requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
