Role Purpose

An organisation undergoing acquisition or consolidation is entering a critical infrastructure integration phase. The IT Infrastructure Engineer will support the programme by delivering hands-on engineering across servers, networking, storage, backup, and data transfer activities.

The role focuses on stabilising and migrating legacy infrastructure into the organisation’s target-state environment, ensuring secure, controlled, and well-documented change throughout the transition.

This is a delivery-focused contract role requiring strong technical capability, structured execution, and the ability to work effectively within a transitioning IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Engineering & Architecture

  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions required for the integration of legacy systems.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, diagrams, and migration plans.
  • Assess legacy environments and define short-term remediation or migration approaches.
  • Integrate legacy IT infrastructure into the target enterprise landscape.
  • Relocate legacy IT infrastructure.

Server & Storage Management

  • Support and maintain Dell server hardware, Windows Server, and virtualisation platforms within both source and target environments.
  • Manage and optimise QNAP NAS storage, including configuration, expansion, and data protection.
  • Execute server migrations, consolidation, and decommissioning tasks as legacy systems transition into the target infrastructure.

Networking & Security

  • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco Meraki networking (MX, MS, MR) across source and target sites.
  • Implement secure network designs including VLANs, ACLs, firewall rules, and segmentation.
  • Support network changes required for tenant alignment, domain migrations, and SaaS repointing as services move into the target organisation.
  • Deliver a structured cabling to racks through good labelling and cable management.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
