The Role

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving the organisation’s core IT infrastructure services. The role provides technical support across on-premises VMware environments, backup and recovery platforms, server infrastructure, networking, wireless services, Microsoft Azure, and selected Microsoft 365 and SharePoint services. The post holder will help ensure that infrastructure services remain secure, reliable, available, and appropriately documented across both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

This role is based out of Fareham, with occasional travel to other Saab locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for on-premises VMware environments, including virtual machines, hosts, clusters, storage connectivity, and associated management platforms.
  • Monitor and maintain server, storage, network, wireless, cloud, and infrastructure services to support availability, performance, resilience, and security.
  • Assist with the administration and support of Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity-related services, monitoring, and backup services where applicable.
  • Administer and support backup and recovery services, including monitoring backup jobs, investigating failures, supporting restore activity, and assisting with routine recovery testing.
  • Provide technical support for LAN, WAN, switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, and Azure networking services.
  • Support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint Online, within the agreed scope of the role.
  • Administer and support SharePoint sites, permissions, document libraries, and standard configuration requests.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure incidents, service requests, and technical problems in line with agreed service levels and operational priorities.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, asset information, configuration records, operational procedures, and support knowledge articles.
  • Support infrastructure patching, upgrades, lifecycle management, change activity, and small-scale technical projects across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers, service providers, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, manage escalations, and support continuous service improvement.
  • Comply with relevant IT policies, change control processes, security standards, and operational procedures.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
