The Role

The Infrastructure and Network Analyst is part of our Infrastructure team working across all aspects of the multi-site, hybrid V&A Technology Infrastructure. This is an exciting and varied opportunity to work across support and delivery as we transition our estate from virtualised on-prem to cloud hosted infrastructure. Network operations include day to day support of LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and firewall environments with our external partners, as well as delivery of network changes. Infrastructure activities include monitoring and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers within a VMWare environment, NetApp solutions, general support of Microsoft infrastructure environment including Entra, ADFS, and Azure, monitoring and administration of multiple backup products, and various other solutions such as VPN, SolarWinds, and Citrix.

The post holder will have solid networking and infrastructure knowledge, great attention to detail and strong analytical skills. You will need a knowledge of DNS, DHCP and load balancing, network switch management and firewall management. The role will also require knowledge of MPLS network protocols. You will work closely with the Service Desk and Applications Support teams to provide 2nd and 3rd line operational support, and with the Enterprise Architecture, Product, Project and Information Security teams to deliver network and infrastructure changes in line with best practice.

What will you be doing?

  • Proactively monitor and maintain IT infrastructure including hardware, firmware, network, servers, storage and backups to ensure smooth operations and high availability, creating updating and creating documentation where necessary.
  • Identify and resolve infrastructure incidents and problems in a timely manner. Work with other teams in Technology, and the wider business to investigate and troubleshoot, and with the support of 3rd party partners and vendors if required, to resolve.
  • Plan network and infrastructure updates and upgrades, including creating and updating technical documentation, and bringing change requests to CAB for approval.
  • Analyse, plan, test, and deliver network and infrastructure changes as either stand alone pieces of work, or part of larger change activities.
  • Regularly test disaster recovery plans including restores from backup and network failovers to validate high availability of service, RPOs and RTOs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
