IT Infrastructure Specialist - AWS

Location: Birmingham – 3 days per week in the office
Salary: £50,000–£55,000 + Pension

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to join a dynamic technology team, supporting and developing a broad infrastructure environment across AWS, networking, and end-user productivity platforms.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role suited to someone with solid 2nd/3rd line experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex technical issues, maintaining reliable infrastructure, and getting involved in ongoing improvements and change.

The Role

Working across the IT infrastructure estate, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting and maintaining core IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
  • Managing and supporting the AWS environment, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
  • Configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Cisco switches and routers, ensuring network availability and performance.
  • Administering and supporting Google Workspace, including user management, security policies, groups, Drive, and Gmail.
  • Responding to and resolving infrastructure incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs.
  • Implementing technical changes in line with established change management processes.
  • Proactively monitoring infrastructure performance and capacity and addressing potential issues before they impact the business.
  • Providing 2nd/3rd line technical support across the wider infrastructure environment.
  • Participating in a 24/7 out-of-hours on-call rotation for critical infrastructure incidents.

About You

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on infrastructure experience, with particular strengths across AWS and networking.

  • 2+ years' experience supporting AWS infrastructure, particularly EC2, S3, VPC, and IAM.
  • Good knowledge of Cisco networking, including switching, routing, and VLANs.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Strong IT operations knowledge, including ITIL, Incident, Request, and Change Management.
  • Experience providing 2nd/3rd line infrastructure support.
  • Experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

Experience with Palo Alto firewalls, SolarWinds, SD-WAN, and scripting using Python, PowerShell, or Bash would be advantageous. Azure experience would also be beneficial.
