IT Manager - Permanent
c.£55k - £60k + Benefits Package
On-site - South-West London - occasional travel to Central London
Must be Eligible to work in the UK
Leading Education organisation is seeking an experienced IT Manager, ideally with experience of consolidating IT Services across multiple sites, standardising Technology Platforms & establishing consistent IT Support & MSP provision. The role combines hands-on IT Management with team leadership, Technology Strategy & Service Improvement across x3 London sites. A key focus will be bringing predominantly Microsoft environments into a Shared IT Operating Model, aligning platforms, consolidating MSP provision and developing consistent service standards.
This opportunity would suit an IT Manager with proven management experience who can lead day-to-day operations while overseeing IT Standardisation, Supplier Selection & Service Improvement.
ROLE
IT Service Delivery
- Lead IT Services, Infrastructure & Support, ensuring reliable delivery to Staff & Pupils - 400 Staff & 2,000 Pupils
IT Consolidation & Strategy
- Develop the IT Roadmap, standardise platforms & processes, and deliver projects from business case through to implementation.
MSP Selection & Management
- Lead RFI/RFP exercises, evaluate suppliers and oversee the transition to a shared MSP with clear service standards.
Service Delivery
- Lead reliable IT Support for staff & pupils, improve escalation processes and help establish a shared Service Desk.

Team Leadership
- Manage and develop IT Engineers across locations, setting priorities, workloads and objectives.
Technical Ownership
- Oversee Networks, Servers, Windows/macOS devices, Microsoft 365, Intune/MDM, Identity Platforms & Classroom AV.
Security & Governance
- Maintain IT Security, Data Protection & GDPR compliance.
Commercial & Stakeholder Management
- Manage IT Budgets, Suppliers & Contracts, working closely with Senior Education Leaders.
Hands-on Support
- Remain actively involved in troubleshooting and technical delivery alongside the IT team and MSP.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Proven IT Management experience, including leadership and development of IT staff.
- Education sector experience is desirable; applicants from other sectors with the required skills, knowledge and experience will also be considered.
- Strong hands-on Windows Desktop, Windows Server & macOS setup, deployment, support and troubleshooting.
- Strong Microsoft Intune & MDM experience across Laptops, Desktops & Tablets.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 & Entra ID / Active Directory.
- Network Administration covering switches, wireless access points, routers, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VLANs.
- Network Security - high level experience - including firewalls, web filtering, VPNs & Security Policies.
- Managing IT Budgets, MSPs & external Suppliers.
- Experience supporting classroom AV, projectors & interactive screens.
- Knowledge of GDPR & IT-related legislation.
- Strong communication, planning, troubleshooting & stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and identify improvements.
- Willingness to travel between sites and work flexibly across locations.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
- Consolidating IT Services across multiple sites into a Shared Operating Model.
- Standardising IT Platforms, Processes, Tools & Documentation.
- Leading RFI/RFP exercises - MSP evaluation, vendor selection & supplier transitions.
- Establishing or developing a Shared Service Desk.
- Education Sector experience, including Management Information Systems, Safeguarding & Parent Communication Systems.
- Google Workspace.
- Cyber Security Frameworks - CIS Controls or Cyber Essentials.
- VoIP & Telephony, Classroom Recording & Learning Management Systems.
- Ticket Desk Analysis & Workflows.
- ITIL or Project Management Certification.
