The Company

Reporting to the IT Director, the IT Manager will lead and evolve the business IT function across infrastructure, service desk, and business systems. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on delivering a stable, secure, and scalable technology environment that supports current operations and enables future growth and expansion.
The post-holder will manage two teams: Infrastructure, Networks & Service Desk (3 staff) and Business Systems (4 staff), ensuring all systems are performant, secure, and aligned with business objectives. The role acts as the senior technical escalation point for infrastructure and includes oversight of cybersecurity, ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX) and reporting systems, IT support services, supplier management, and business continuity planning.
Acting as a strategic and operational lead across the business, the IT Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to deliver technology improvements that enhance business resilience, digital maturity, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities as our IT Manager will include:
- Line manage team members across all team functions, including recruitment, development, and performance management, conducting regular 1:1s, appraisals, and reviews with direct reports, setting clear goals and providing mentoring support.
- Lead team communication, prioritisation of work, and escalation processes to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Prepare and present a monthly IT service report, covering service metrics, key risks, incidents, changes, and improvement actions.
- Lead the delivery and continual improvement of IT infrastructure, service desk operations, and internal business systems.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for infrastructure, networks, and service desk issues.
- Oversee ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX), reporting, and internal business platforms, ensuring they remain secure, well-supported, and effectively integrated into business processes.
- Own the business systems roadmap, working with business process owners to agree priorities and outcomes.
- Hold regular business systems reviews with department heads to track delivery, issues, and upcoming requirements.
- Coordinate regular cyber risk assessments, phishing simulations, and user awareness training to reduce security risk. Implement and maintain robust security controls and user access policies.
- Oversee IT service operations, ensuring service levels are monitored, user satisfaction is high, and incidents are resolved promptly.
- Develop and maintain the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans, testing them regularly for effectiveness.
- Lead the implementation and change management of new software and business systems, ensuring minimal disruption.
- Maintain a clear IT roadmap aligned with business needs, working closely with leadership and other department heads.
- Provide occasional out-of-hours support as required during critical incidents or change activity.

What We’re Looking For
What we’re looking for in our IT Manager:

- Substantial experience (typically 5+ years) as an IT Manager or equivalent, line managing multi-discipline IT teams, including recruitment, performance management, and development.
- Proven accountability for both infrastructure and business systems functions, with evidence of giving both equal leadership attention.
- Experience managing an ERP platform and the team supporting it, including prioritising change with business process owners.
- Strong technical background in infrastructure, cloud (Entra ID, Intune, Azure, Microsoft 365), and networking, sufficient to act as the senior technical escalation point.
- Experience operating ITIL-aligned service management, including incident, problem, and change management, SLAs, and service reporting.
- Experience owning cybersecurity controls and achieving and maintaining Cyber Essentials Plus.
- Experience ensuring internal systems support GDPR compliance, working alongside a Data Protection Officer.
- Experience developing and testing IT business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Proven ability to present service performance, risk, and roadmaps to senior leadership, translating technical issues for non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
