📌 Role Overview
PerfectTed is hiring an IT Manager to own our technology estate outright.
This is initially a six-month role, with a real opportunity to extend. We have clear goals, but the person joining us will have significant freedom to put their stamp on how we achieve them. We're unusually receptive to change, move quickly and actively encourage people to challenge the status quo.
You'll have a clear mandate across endpoint management, support and ticketing, identity and access, information security, and a full rebuild of how we store and share data. You won't spend your first quarter writing a business case to earn the right to start. We want someone who can come in, assess what needs to happen, and get moving.
You'll harden device management in Intune, rebuild how identity and access work across the organisation, and lead an information security and access control review spanning M365, SharePoint, Google Workspace and Notion.
An external support partner delivers some of our IT provision. The relationship and, crucially, the outcomes are yours.
You'll also work alongside our in-house AI and automation team. Very few IT roles at this scale come with an engineering team sitting next to them, giving you the opportunity to automate repetitive IT processes and build smarter systems from the outset.
You'll be the single owner of IT, with direct access to the people making decisions. No committee. No waiting six weeks for a yes. Do it well and there is every reason for the role to extend.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
🖥️ Device & Endpoint Management
- Complete Intune enrolment across the estate so every Windows and macOS device is enrolled, compliant and operating from a known baseline
- Harden Intune policy, including compliance policies, configuration profiles and update rings applied consistently across the estate
- Move application deployment into Intune so software reaches machines automatically
- Establish a spare device pool so hardware faults and rotations become simple swaps rather than incidents

🎟️ Support, Ticketing & Escalation
- Design and embed a clear ticket intake process, with relevant user information and detail attached automatically
- Define the escalation path between PerfectTed and our external support partner, including clear ownership and response times
- Ensure resolution detail, including actions taken, root cause and fixes applied, flows back into our workspace and becomes reusable knowledge
- Hold our external IT support partner accountable for service quality and delivery
📋 Documentation & Handover
- Document systems, access models, decisions and runbooks as you go, using Notion
- Build documentation to a standard that someone else can confidently pick up and use
- Leave the function in a state where day-to-day IT no longer depends on any one person
🔐 Identity, Access & Joiner/Leaver Flow
- Rationalise M365 groups and identity so access becomes role-based
- Build an app-by-app inventory of our third-party estate, covering SAML and SCIM support
- Identify where orphaned accounts could survive an employee exit and close those gaps
- Deliver simultaneous access revocation on offboarding across every relevant system, not just the tenant. This is a must-have, not a nice-to-have
🔒 Information Security & Data Estate
- Lead an access control review across SharePoint, Google Drive, Notion and the wider estate
- Establish who can access what, identify over-sharing and external exposure, and remediate findings
- Design and deliver a new SharePoint architecture to replace the current monolith, with permissions inherited from M365 groups and a documented site lifecycle
- Bring structure and governance to a 20TB+ Google Drive estate, including shared drive design, permissions, external sharing, retention and archive
- Put in place the backup capability that the Google Drive estate does not currently have
✅ Requirements
Must-Haves
- 5+ years' experience in IT management, IT operations or a senior internal IT role
- Deep Microsoft 365 and Entra ID experience, including group and identity management
- Strong Intune experience across enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles and application deployment on Windows and macOS
- Practical experience with SSO and SCIM provisioning and deprovisioning
- Experience designing SharePoint information architecture and delivering migrations into it
- Strong grounding in access control and information security review work, with the judgement to prioritise findings sensibly
- Comfortable managing an outsourced support partner and holding them accountable for delivery
- Able to work at speed in a business that's still changing shape without sacrificing rigour
- Documents work properly and by default, rather than treating documentation as an afterthought
- Clear written and verbal communication with non-technical colleagues
- AI-first mentality – you're comfortable working alongside AI and automation specialists and actively look for opportunities to automate repetitive IT work, improve processes and make the function more efficient

Nice-to-Haves
- Google Workspace and M365 administration experience, including shared drive design and governance
- Experience using Notion as a working surface for processes and documentation
- Experience within a high-growth FMCG, retail or eCommerce business
- Exposure to Cyber Essentials or similar certification work
- Experience using automation or AI tooling to reduce repetitive IT workload

- Happy to own IT outright rather than sit inside a larger function
- Equally comfortable configuring a policy and chairing a supplier review
- Pragmatic about what six months allows and disciplined about sequencing priorities
- Calm when things break and unbothered by the occasional laptop question
- Motivated by leaving something clean, scalable and properly documented behind
- Direct and willing to tell us when something on the roadmap is the wrong call
- Someone who sees a messy system and immediately starts thinking about how to make it simpler
