About AFG

At AFG, we pursue the vision of empowering our people to build African companies into global champions. We do this by catalysing a more enabling private-sector environment for African businesses through technology. AFG is proudly home to three core brands to fulfil this mission: African Hidden Champions (AHC), the leading scaling platform for homegrown mid-sized businesses in Africa; AHEAD, an online learning community for Africa’s top young professionals looking to make an impact in African organisations; and Peralta, a marketplace that allows top African freelancers to work on projects that advance the African private sector.

AFG is looking for a part-time IT Manager to provide practical technology support across the group. The role will ensure that AFG’s core systems are reliable, secure, integrated, and fit for a growing technology-enabled organisation.

12-Month Success Definition

Within the first 12 months, you will have created a reliable, secure, and well-managed technology environment that enables AFG, AHC, AHEAD, and Peralta to operate effectively and adopt new technology with confidence.

  • Strengthen Microsoft 365 management: Establish clear ownership, administration standards, access controls, user lifecycle processes, file-management practices, and basic governance for Microsoft 365 across the group.
  • Enable key technology rollouts: Lead or coordinate the selection, configuration, testing, and adoption of priority AI and payments tools, ensuring they meet business needs, are properly integrated, and have clear user guidance.
  • Improve cybersecurity and resilience: Put in place practical cybersecurity controls, including access management, multi-factor authentication, device and account hygiene, backup practices, incident-response processes, and regular staff awareness.
  • Create dependable IT support: Establish a clear process for receiving, prioritising, resolving, and tracking user requests. Ensure colleagues know where to go for support and that recurring issues are identified and addressed systematically.
  • Build an integrated IT landscape: Map AFG’s key systems and data flows, identify important integration gaps and duplication, and deliver a prioritised roadmap for connecting tools, reducing manual work, and improving the quality of data across the organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Role Persona

I am a pragmatic technology expert who makes systems work reliably for people and growth-stage businesses in practice, not just on paper.

I can move easily between a strategic technology roadmap and an urgent user issue, bringing calm, structure, and practical judgement to both.

I believe security, good user experience, and operational efficiency should reinforce one another. I design technology practices that people can understand, adopt, and maintain.
