MES Manager - Manufacturing IT
We’re recruiting for an experienced MES / Manufacturing IT leader to take responsibility for the systems and team supporting a complex, high-tech manufacturing operation in Northamptonshire.
This is a senior role combining ownership of a production-critical MES environment with team leadership and the longer-term development and modernisation of manufacturing systems.
You’ll lead an established technical team and work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Automation and wider IT teams across the business.
The role will include:
- Overall responsibility for MES and manufacturing IT systems supporting production
- Leading and developing the site MES IT team
- Ensuring the availability, performance and reliability of production-critical systems
- Taking ownership of major incidents, problem resolution and change
- Working closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to understand requirements and resolve operational issues
- Leading MES upgrades, migrations, integrations and wider system improvements
- Developing the longer-term roadmap for MES and manufacturing technology
- Working with internal technology teams, suppliers and external partners
- Improving the resilience, maintainability and long-term supportability of the manufacturing systems environment
- Supporting disaster recovery and business continuity planning

About you
We’re looking for someone with substantial experience of MES, manufacturing applications, factory systems or Manufacturing IT within a complex production environment.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience of MES and production-critical manufacturing systems
- Experience leading a technical, MES, applications or Manufacturing IT team
- Experience supporting systems within a 24/7 or mission-critical manufacturing environment
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes, MES workflows and manufacturing data
- Experience working across IT and OT environments
- Knowledge of integrations between MES, production equipment, ERP and other manufacturing systems
- Experience delivering MES upgrades, migrations, improvements or modernisation programmes
- Strong incident, problem and change management experience
- The ability to combine technical understanding with people leadership and stakeholder management

Experience within semiconductor, electronics, photonics, aerospace, automotive or another advanced manufacturing environments would be particularly relevant, although we’re also interested in strong MES and Manufacturing IT leaders from other complex manufacturing sectors.
Experience with MES platforms such as PROMIS, Siemens Opcenter/Camstar, Critical Manufacturing, FactoryWorks, SiView or similar would be advantageous.
