IT Manager
A growing multi-site group is hiring an IT Manager to own day-to-day IT operations and lead a small in-house team (c.5). The role combines hands-on operational leadership, infrastructure, apps, support, MSPs with cybersecurity oversight, supplier and budget control, and support for digital transformation and M&A integration. You’ll work closely with the local MD and align to Group IT strategy and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and develop a team of c.5; allocate workload and embed performance coaching.
- Run IT service delivery across multiple sites: infrastructure, applications, service desk and managed service providers.
- Ensure availability, security and performance of business-critical systems (ERP, field service, finance/procurement, operational platforms); manage SLAs/KPIs and escalations.
- Support transformation initiatives: cloud (Azure/M365), modern workplace, ERP and field service enhancements; identify automation/AI opportunities.
- Implement Group security controls; ensure GDPR and Cyber Essentials Plus compliance; maintain DR/BC plans.
- Support acquisition integration, stabilisation and standardisation (and separation/carve-out where needed).
- Manage vendors, contracts, licensing and the IT operating budget; drive cost optimisation and lifecycle planning.
- Report clearly on performance, risk and improvement activity to senior stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
