IT Network Support Engineer – Level 2
Location: Remote / Home Based - Up to 60 Mins from Manchester City Centre
Salary: Depending on experience
Employment: Full-time, Permanent
We're looking for an experienced IT Network Support Engineer to join our growing Technical Operations team.
This is a predominantly remote role, providing day-to-day network support across a range of managed customer environments. You'll take ownership of network-related issues from initial report through to resolution, covering everything from everyday Wi-Fi and connectivity problems through to more complex Level 2 troubleshooting.
You'll work across technologies including switching, wireless, firewalls, VLANs, routing, VPNs and managed internet connectivity, with occasional travel to customer sites where remote resolution isn't possible.
We're looking for someone with strong networking fundamentals who enjoys troubleshooting, takes ownership of problems and wants to continue developing their networking, infrastructure and security knowledge.

What you'll be doing
- Troubleshooting LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and internet connectivity issues
- Configuring and troubleshooting switches, VLANs, firewalls, routing and VPNs
- Supporting managed wireless networks and business fibre/internet services
- Diagnosing faults and working with ISPs and other third parties where required
- Monitoring customer networks and responding to outages and performance issues
- Carrying out configuration changes, firmware upgrades and planned maintenance
- Taking ownership of tickets and keeping customers informed through to resolution
- Supporting network migrations, infrastructure changes and smaller technical projects
- Occasionally attending customer sites to diagnose faults or replace/configure equipment
What we're looking for
You'll ideally have previous experience in an IT support, network support, Service Desk or MSP environment, with a practical understanding of:
- TCP/IP
- IPv4 & subnetting
- DHCP
- DNS
- VLANs
- Layer 2 switching
- Routing
- NAT
- Firewalls
- VPNs
- Wireless networking
- PoE
- LAN/WAN

Experience with technologies such as Ubiquiti UniFi, Ruckus, Fortinet/FortiGate, Meraki or other enterprise networking platforms would be advantageous, but experience with every platform is not essential.
More important is that you have strong networking fundamentals, a logical approach to troubleshooting and the ability to take ownership of an issue through to resolution.
Location & Development
The role is primarily home-based, but we're specifically looking for someone in the North West of England who can occasionally attend customer sites. Some travel to London and elsewhere in the UK may also be required.
There will be plenty of opportunity to develop into more advanced areas including network design, routing and switching, firewalls and security, wireless optimisation and automation.
Package: Salary depending on experience + company equipment, travel expenses and ongoing technical training and development
