IT OPERATIONS ENGINEER - Quant Trading

Global Quant Trading Firm with industry competitive compensation

London – 4 days in office

Quant Capital is recruiting for a leading global trading firm seeking an IT Operations Engineer to join a fast-paced, engineering-led tech function. This is a hands-on support and systems role spanning desktop, server, and network infrastructure across Linux, Windows, and macOS environments. You’ll provide critical support to internal users, manage systems configuration and deployments, and contribute to automation projects that reduce manual effort and improve reliability across the firm’s IT footprint.

Role Overview

You’ll join a global operations team responsible for ensuring seamless daily functioning of core infrastructure and end-user environments. The role combines real-time problem solving, infrastructure maintenance, and technical project delivery, including scripting and automation. This is a hybrid operations/engineering role with real visibility across systems, platforms, and business-critical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to support tickets and resolve hardware, software, and infrastructure issues across a diverse user base
  • Build and configure laptops, desktops, and servers across Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • Support domain infrastructure including Active Directory, Group Policy, and access control
  • Monitor critical systems, identify risks or outages, and contribute to resolution planning
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily in PowerShell or Bash) to streamline common tasks
  • Collaborate with technical teams across the business on infrastructure improvement initiatives
  • Document processes, solutions, and troubleshooting procedures for internal knowledge base
  • Participate in occasional evening or weekend maintenance and support tasks

What You’ll Need

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a natural service mindset
  • 3-8 years experience
  • Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, across networking, system administration, and endpoint management
  • Hands-on experience with Windows OS (client/server), Active Directory, and enterprise IT environments
  • Strong PowerShell skills is a key requirement, complex scripting from scratch.
  • Comfortable working across platforms, experience with Linux/macOS a plus
  • Fluent English required
