Team Overview
The IT Operations Manager leads the delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure services across data centre and cloud environments. The team is responsible for maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient platforms, enabling effective 24/7 operations and developing a high-performing infrastructure team. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
- Lead the design, deployment, maintenance, and 24/7 operation of data centre and Microsoft Azure infrastructure, including Nutanix, Windows, Linux, storage, virtualisation, and related technologies.
- Provide Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service capabilities to delivery and operational teams, ensuring reliable, repeatable, and responsive technology services.
- Embed DevOps and Infrastructure as Code practices to improve collaboration, automate deployments, and deliver rapid, consistent, and reliable platform changes.
- Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, utilisation, and capacity, proactively resolving issues and planning for organisational growth and changing technology requirements.
- Maintain service availability of at least 99.9% through effective redundancy, failover, disaster-recovery, and business-continuity planning.
- Implement infrastructure security policies and controls, coordinate vulnerability assessments and penetration testing, address identified risks, and lead responses to infrastructure security incidents or outages.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Platform and Infrastructure team, promoting knowledge sharing, technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Plan and deliver infrastructure projects within agreed time and budget expectations, working with the Project Management Office, internal stakeholders, technology vendors, and managed service providers.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure diagrams, asset inventories, configuration records, and operational documentation, and report regularly on service performance, incidents, capacity, risks, and project status.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
- Experience leading enterprise infrastructure operations across data centre and cloud environments, including responsibility for service delivery and operational availability.
- Experience managing and developing infrastructure engineering or operations teams in a 24/7 service environment.
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure resilience, capacity planning, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response.
- Experience planning and delivering infrastructure projects while coordinating internal stakeholders, vendors, and managed service providers.
- Knowledge of security and regulatory frameworks relevant to infrastructure operations, including applicable ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, GDPR, or HIPAA requirements.

Required Technical Skills
- Practical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, Windows, Linux, storage, and virtualisation technologies.
- Experience designing, deploying, and operating Infrastructure as a Service and Platform as a Service solutions.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles, Infrastructure as Code, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Ability to monitor and analyse infrastructure availability, performance, utilisation, capacity, and operational trends.
- Strong operational documentation and reporting capabilities, including configuration records, asset inventories, infrastructure diagrams, and recovery plans.
