IT Production Operations Manager
Salary from: £60,000
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office)
CPS Group are working with a well-established financial services organisation looking for an IT Production Operations Manager to lead a high-performing operations function responsible for keeping critical production systems running securely, reliably and efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that is investing heavily in technology, operational resilience and automation, giving you the chance to shape production operations while leading an experienced technical team.
The Role
As IT Production Operations Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day management of production operations, ensuring critical services, enterprise scheduling and batch workloads are delivered consistently and securely. You'll play a key leadership role during major incidents, drive operational improvements, and help build a resilient, automation-first production environment.

What You'll Be Doing
- Leading the day-to-day operation of critical production services and scheduled workloads
- Managing operational readiness, documentation, procedures and support models
- Acting as a senior escalation point during major incidents and coordinating service recovery
- Driving root cause analysis and continuous service improvement initiatives
- Improving operational resilience, disaster recovery and service stability
- Leading automation initiatives to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency
- Establishing governance and operational controls for changes entering production
- Using service data and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities
- Working closely with technology teams and third-party suppliers to minimise production risk
- Coaching, mentoring and developing a high-performing operations team.

What We're Looking For
- Leading IT Production, Service Operations or Infrastructure Operations teams
- Managing production environments within complex enterprise organisations
- Mainframe operations, enterprise scheduling and batch processing
- Incident and Major Incident Management
- Operational resilience, disaster recovery and service continuity
- Automation and continual service improvement
- Using operational data and KPIs to drive better outcomes
- Working within regulated industries such as financial services (desirable).
