Role Summary

Aubay UK is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager for a 6-month contract engagement to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex and strategically important technology initiatives within a global energy organisation. The successful consultant will combine strong project governance, financial management, and stakeholder engagement capabilities with pragmatic Agile and delivery methodologies to drive measurable business outcomes across cross-commodity and supply chain operations environments.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience leading complex technology projects with significant business impact and delivery risk.
  • Proven end-to-end project management across mobilisation, planning, execution, governance, transition, and closure.
  • Strong budget ownership, forecasting, cost control, and variance management experience.
  • Experience managing scope, change control, risks, issues, and dependencies in complex environments.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across business, architecture, engineering, cyber security, data, and operations functions.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder and executive sponsor management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive-level reporting experience.
  • Practical experience delivering through Agile, Waterfall, and iterative methodologies.
  • Experience using enterprise planning, reporting, and Agile delivery tools.
  • Experience within logistics, supply chain, distribution, transportation, or commercially complex operational environments.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • PMP, MSP, PgMP, or equivalent project/programme management certification.
  • Agile certification and experience working with Product Owners and Agile teams.
  • Experience delivering within large global organisations and across multiple geographies.
  • Experience within energy, investment banking, or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Supplier, commercial, and contract management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tooling.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through mobilisation, delivery, implementation, and closure.
  • Establish delivery baselines covering scope, outcomes, milestones, resources, costs, and governance.
  • Drive delivery performance and maintain focus on business value realisation.
  • Own project financial management, forecasting, and cost control activities.
  • Implement effective governance, reporting, assurance, and decision-making processes.
  • Manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies with proactive escalation and resolution.
  • Build trusted relationships with sponsors, business stakeholders, technology teams, and suppliers.
  • Provide transparent executive reporting on delivery progress, risks, and financial performance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and remove obstacles to successful delivery.
  • Ensure operational readiness, transition, acceptance, and controlled project closure.
