IT Project Manager, UK based with travel between our sites when needed

If you have ever looked at a project plan, system rollout or stakeholder meeting and thought, “There must be a better way to make this land,” this could be the role for you.

We are looking for an IT Project Manager who can bring structure, pace and clarity to technology projects that make a real difference across our business. This is not a box-ticking role; it is for someone who keeps people engaged, informed and moving in the same direction.

Who are we?

Balaena is an agile maritime group with over 2,000 employees across Gibraltar, Padstow, Tyne, Birkenhead and Falmouth. We combine industrial agility, innovation and community partnership to support naval and merchant ship sectors.

Change is already happening here. We need someone who can help turn IT projects into measurable business value in a practical, sleeves-rolled-up environment.

In June, the integration of our modern facilities in Gibraltar and Padstow with APCL’s infrastructure on Tyne, Birkenhead and Falmouth created one of the world’s most capable ship repair and shipbuilding groups - with a network of 12 dry docks and strategic reach across the UK and the Mediterranean.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
