IT Project Manager / Software Developer

London | Permanent | 4 Days Per Week On-Site

Are you a technically capable Project Manager who still enjoys getting hands-on with software development and system improvement projects?

We're looking for an IT Project Manager / Software Developer to join a well-established financial services organisation in London. This is a rare opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, from gathering business requirements and managing stakeholders through to system design, implementation and bespoke development.

Working closely with the Head of IT, you'll play a key role in driving technology initiatives, modernising business systems and delivering projects that directly impact the organisation's operational effectiveness.

The Role

This is a broad and varied position that combines project management, business analysis and software development responsibilities. You'll work with business stakeholders, external suppliers and internal users to identify opportunities for improvement, implement new technologies and enhance existing systems.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing the full lifecycle of IT projects from initial concept through to delivery and support.
  • Gathering and analysing business requirements to design effective technical solutions.
  • Evaluating, selecting and implementing new software platforms and business applications.
  • Developing and customising systems where required to meet business needs.
  • Working with internal stakeholders and third-party vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Supporting cyber security, audit and regulatory initiatives across the IT function.
  • Creating technical documentation, procedures and training materials.
  • Providing knowledge transfer and technical training to both IT and business users.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
