About my client.
My client is a leading commodities trading and investment firm with offices in London, New York, Singapore, Melbourne, and Puerto Rico. They operate across 50 countries on six continents, trading more than 20 different commodities including energy, metals, dry bulk, ocean freight, and renewable technologies.
Their objective is to provide certainty and stability for their clients in an increasingly volatile sector, assisting them with financing, logistics, and green solutions. Their success stems from a strategy of promoting deep, long-term relationships all along the commodity supply chain.
Established in 2015, my client employs 250 people, deploying a balance sheet exceeding $1.5bn. They are 100% owned by management, which allows them the flexibility to make investment decisions that secure the longevity and prosperity of the company.
The firm is a unique place to grow your career. They take pride in their values, global reach, meritocratic culture, and strong work ethic. Their success over the years has been built on their guiding principles of customer service, creativity, transparency, integrity, and responsibility.
Whilst their footprint grows, they still foster a small-company atmosphere. They have a flat company structure and encourage collaboration across all seniority levels, teams, and locations to generate the best ideas. They are committed to the wellbeing of their colleagues and organize various social evenings, sports clubs, and lunchtime activities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
