IT Security & Infrastructure Engineer

Up to £45,000 basic + £15,000 OTE | Middlesbrough

We are supporting a well-established IT services provider who are looking for an IT Security & Infrastructure Engineer to own cyber security across their own estate and their clients' environments.

This isn't a developmental role. You'll be hands-on from day one, so we're looking for someone with the technical grounding and security exposure to take ownership quickly and work with minimal supervision. You'll combine infrastructure engineering with a security specialism, delivering Cyber Essentials and Penetration Testing engagements and helping to shape security services that clients pay for.

What you'll be doing

  • Owning the security posture of the business and its clients, identifying risks and driving remediation
  • Implementing and maintaining security controls, including endpoint protection, email security, MFA, conditional access and patch/vulnerability management
  • Delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certification, from scoping and evidence gathering through to remediation and submission
  • Leading penetration testing engagements and coordination
  • Monitoring, triaging and responding to security alerts and incidents
  • Designing, deploying and supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365 / Azure, firewalls and network infrastructure
  • Delivering backup and disaster recovery solutions and infrastructure projects
  • Acting as an escalation point and flexing into Service Desk support when needed

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
