IT Security Operations Analyst

This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working - some time on campus and some from home.
This role may be subject to additional background screening.
The Role
As a Security Operations Analyst, you will play a key role in protecting the University's systems, services and information from cyber threats. Working as part of the IT Security Operations team, you will monitor and respond to security alerts, investigate potential incidents, support vulnerability management activities, and help maintain the tools and processes that keep the University's digital environment secure.
Day-to-day, you will triage security events, investigate suspicious activity, work with colleagues across IT to resolve security issues, contribute to incident response, and support the continual improvement of security services. You will also help develop operational procedures, maintain security documentation, and provide advice to colleagues on security best practice.
The IT Security Operations team is responsible for the University's operational cyber security capability, including security monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, threat detection, security tooling and the continuous improvement of security controls. The team works closely with infrastructure, applications, research and service management teams to protect the University's teaching, research and professional services from an evolving cyber threat landscape.

About You
You'll have a strong interest in cyber security and a methodical approach to investigating and resolving technical issues. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced operational environment, able to prioritise competing demands and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
We're looking for someone with a good understanding of IT infrastructure, networking and cyber security principles, together with experience of incident response, problem solving or IT operations. You will enjoy working collaboratively, have excellent analytical skills and be keen to continually develop your technical knowledge. Experience with security monitoring, vulnerability management, ITIL practices or security technologies would be advantageous, but just as important is a proactive attitude and a desire to learn and improve.
