IT Service Manager - User Experience & Software Assets
National Charity
£38,000 - £45,000 per annum | Flexible Hybrid / Remote
29 days' annual leave + Pension + Additional Benefits
We are working on behalf of a leading National Charity to recruit an experienced IT Service Manager - User Experience & Software Assets to join their Technology team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Service Management or Software Asset Management professional to take ownership of the organisation's software, licensing and related services, ensuring they remain secure, compliant, cost-effective and aligned to business requirements.
The Role
You will take ownership of the strategy, governance and delivery of software and licensing services, working closely with internal teams, business stakeholders and external suppliers.
A key focus will be managing software lifecycles, licensing agreements and vendor relationships, while identifying opportunities to rationalise software, reduce costs, improve compliance and minimise security risks.
Although there are no direct line-management responsibilities, you will use your leadership, coaching and influencing skills to support colleagues and external partners and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage software assets, licences and related services across the organisation.
- Manage software lifecycles, including releases, updates, patching and end-of-life processes.
- Manage licensing agreements, renewals and acquisitions, ensuring maximum value.
- Develop strong relationships with software and technology vendors and negotiate licensing arrangements.
- Identify opportunities to rationalise software, consolidate licences and reduce costs.
- Maintain the Definitive Software Library and associated processes and tools.
- Identify and manage risks associated with unsupported and end-of-life software.
- Work with the Service Desk and Service Analysts to improve service delivery, knowledge management and self-service.
- Develop and automate processes to improve compliance, reduce security risks and increase efficiency.
- Ensure software services and processes are clearly documented.
- Support the movement towards CI/CD practices and product-centric ways of working.

About You
We are looking for a proactive and outcome-focused IT professional with experience across Software Asset Management, licensing and IT Service Management.
You should have:
- Proven experience managing software assets, licences or technology services.
- Experience managing software lifecycles, including releases, patching and end-of-life.
- Strong vendor and supplier management experience, including contracts and renewals.
- Experience identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and service improvement.
- Good knowledge of ITIL and core IT Service Management processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrable leadership skills, even without direct line-management responsibility.
