Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience

Job Description

As an IT Service Manager for SFTP Applications and End User Computing (EUC) within the Workplace Portfolio, you will be responsible for services delivered by BAE Systems strategic suppliers and internally delivered towers. You will be the professional conscience ensuring that services are accessible, secure, compliant and aligned to business requirements in terms of service definition, cost, performance and user experience.

You will provide governance and oversight for the organisation’s Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) services and End User Computing estate, ensuring the delivery of reliable, secure and scalable services that support business operations across the enterprise. This includes responsibility for service strategy, supplier management, lifecycle management, continual improvement and stakeholder engagement.

Core Duties

  • Providing input to the service continuity planning process and implementing resulting plans to ensure resilience across SFTP platforms, desktop services, virtual environments and endpoint technologies
  • Managing the full-service lifecycle for SFTP applications and EUC services, ensuring business and user requirements continue to be met whilst delivering ongoing value and benefits
  • Maintaining service performance, security and compliance standards to support the successful integration of future enhancements and technology changes in line with Agile and continuous improvement principles
  • Providing governance and oversight of third-party suppliers responsible for delivering SFTP and EUC services, ensuring contractual obligations, service levels and performance targets are achieved
  • Driving continual service improvement initiatives to enhance user experience, increase service stability, reduce operational risk and optimise service costs
  • Managing service risks, issues and dependencies whilst ensuring appropriate controls are in place to support regulatory, security and business compliance requirements
  • Collaborating with architecture, cyber security, infrastructure and application teams to support the development and adoption of strategic workplace and file transfer services

Essential Skills

  • You will have experience of working in IT Service Management within a large and complex enterprise environment.
  • Experience of managing and governing services delivered through external suppliers and managed service providers
  • You will hold ITIL Foundation certification and either an appropriate ITIL Intermediate qualification or equivalent service management capability training
  • You will have knowledge of SFTP, Managed File Transfer (MFT) solutions, application support and secure data exchange services
  • Knowledge of End User Computing technologies, including endpoint management, desktop and laptop services, software deployment, virtual desktop infrastructure and mobile device management
  • Experience of service performance management, supplier governance, incident, problem, change and risk management processes

The Modern Workplace team is a group of friendly service managers dedicated to delivering high-quality End User Computing, workplace and business-critical application services that support a large and dynamic workforce. Reporting to a Tower Service Manager, the team provides governance, assurance and strategic oversight of third-party partners delivering critical workplace and digital services.
