IT Services Engineer (SC Clearance) - Milton Keynes - Contract role - £competitive

Synergize Consulting are now hiring for an IT Services Engineer to work onsite at a leading defence client of ours on a contract basis.

This is a varied role covering many key areas of support to a large deployment project and involves supporting both hardware and software systems, ensuring equipment is configured correctly, and performing testing before deployment to users or client environments.

You will play a key role in maintaining IT infrastructure and ensuring systems are ready for operational use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain critical IT hardware
  • Install, update, and troubleshoot operating systems and business software
  • Test and validate IT equipment before deployment to ensure reliability and performance
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues reported by users
  • Assist with system upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance tasks
  • Document configurations, testing procedures, and support activities
  • Support the rollout of new hardware and software across the organisation
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth IT operations

Experience required:

  • A demonstrable background in IT hardware and software support
  • Strong hands-on engineer skills, including those related to deployment, rollout, installation and testing
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and common business applications
  • Familiarity with testing processes, prior to system launches and go-live
  • Ability to manage hardware assets, logging correctly within internal systems and managing them through the deployment lifecycle
  • Experience working with switches, routers and servers within a deployment/installation environment
  • Due to the nature of the client, it would be an advantage for candidates to hold, or be eligible and willing to undergo, a certain level of security clearance (SC).
