IT Software Solutions Technician Apprentice - Job Overview

We have an amazing opportunity to join the UK Applications Development team at Lockheed Martin as an IT Software Solutions apprentice. Working within the team, you will learn the tools, techniques and approaches used by the team and apply them in a controlled environment to ensure projects are delivered on time, to quality and to budget.

Key to the role, you will work supporting Enterprise productivity software tools, interconnecting with critical production software, databases and customer systems.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice IT Software Solutions Technician. As an apprentice, you will assist with the development, implementation, and support of software systems as well as learn and grow alongside experienced professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will have the opportunity to work on various projects and gain exposure to different systems, for example: productivity software tools like JIRA, Confluence, as well as integrating various software, databases, and customer systems for automation.

Role and responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.
  • Assist in software implementation and configuration for new projects.
  • Collaborate with users to understand their business requirements and provide tailored solutions.
  • Conduct software testing to identify bugs and suggest improvements.
  • Provide technical support to users via phone, email, and in-person interactions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by users in a timely manner.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of software solutions and users’ interactions.

Required Skills

  • Grade 4 or above (C or above) GCSEs in English and Mathematics
  • Basic knowledge of software tools and systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop skills in the IT Software industry.
