We're looking for an experienced IT Solutions Presales Engineer to join our Commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines deep technical expertise with commercial awareness and exceptional communication skills. You'll work alongside Sales, Professional Services and Service Desk teams to design innovative IT solutions that help our customers achieve their business goals while delivering an effortless customer experience.

About the Role

As a IT Solutions Presales Engineer, you'll bridge the gap between customer requirements and technical delivery.

You'll engage with customers throughout their technology journey… from initial discovery and solution design through to project implementation and future strategic planning.

Success in this role isn't measured solely by technical excellence. It's about creating confidence, simplifying complexity and ensuring every customer interaction is professional, proactive and effortless.

Working closely with our Commercial, Professional Services and Technical teams, you'll help shape innovative solutions that deliver real business value while supporting HBP's commitment to exceptional customer service.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll:

  • Design secure, scalable and commercially aligned IT solutions
  • Conduct customer discovery workshops, technical audits and site surveys
  • Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
  • Support our Sales team with technical expertise during customer engagements
  • Produce solution designs, architecture documentation and technical proposals
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery
  • Ensure operational readiness for support take ons
  • Ensure seamless handovers between Sales, Projects and Support
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with customers at every level
  • Recommend improvements to existing customer environments and future technology roadmaps
  • Identify opportunities to improve services, simplify processes and enhance the customer experience
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and help shape future service offerings

What We're Looking For

You'll have experience designing and delivering modern Microsoft-based infrastructure solutions within an MSP or enterprise environment.

You'll also bring:

Essential

  • Minimum five years' experience in a IT Presales, Solutions Architect, Technical Consultant or Senior Infrastructure role
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience engaging with senior business stakeholders
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes
  • Strong documentation and solution design skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Right to work in the UK

Technical Experience

Ideally, you'll have experience with:

  • Microsoft 365
  • Microsoft Intune & Windows Autopilot
  • Windows Server (2019/2022/2025)
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • Microsoft Security technologies
  • Advanced networking including VLANs and managed switching
  • Firewalls
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery solutions
  • Physical servers and Virtualisation
  • Microsoft Azure

Certifications

Desirable certifications include:

  • Microsoft SC-900
  • Microsoft MS-900
