The Vacancy
ASK4 is looking for an IT Solutions Team Leader to take ownership of our combined first and second-line support team in Sheffield. You'll be responsible for how clients experience our service and for making sure the team has what it needs to deliver it well.
That means managing the ticket queue, handling escalations, keeping SLAs on track, and stepping in when issues need senior attention. It also means coaching colleagues, running performance conversations, identifying what's not working in your processes, and fixing it. You'll work alongside the broader Customer Care management team on department objectives and have a direct say in how the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day support desk operations, monitoring ticket queues and ensuring SLAs are consistently met
- Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, particularly in networking and second-line support
- Manage, coach, and develop colleagues across first and second line, including regular one-to-ones and formal performance reviews
- Deliver training on new products, tools, and processes
- Monitor service-impacting issues, report on root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation to support consistent service delivery
- Identify and drive workflow improvements and post-incident reviews
- Play an active role in hiring for the team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
