IT Solutions Technician Apprenticeship
This role will support the design, implementation and maintenance of digital solutions that improve operational efficiency across Customer Service. The apprentice will help identify business problems, develop technical solutions and support projects that automate processes, improve reporting and enhance customer service operations.
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do at work:
- Support the development, testing and deployment of IT and automation solutions.
- Assist with Power Automate workflows and integration between Microsoft applications.
- Support Power BI reporting solutions and data connectivity.
- Assist with SharePoint, Forms and Microsoft 365 solution development.
- Participate in solution design, requirements gathering and documentation.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs and user guides.
- Support testing activities and issue resolution.
- Contribute to AI and digital innovation initiatives using Microsoft technologies.
- Ensure solutions comply with governance, security and GDPR requirements.
- Deliver multiple Power Automate workflows that remove manual activities.
- Support implementation of digital solutions used by operational teams.
- Develop technical and user documentation for deployed solutions.
- Contribute to reporting and dashboard improvements.
- Complete an apprenticeship project demonstrating measurable business benefit.
- Continuously grow and focus on personal development.

- Search and use different types of data or information sources.
- Test and evaluate performance, functionality, and usability of solutions to ensure compliance with customer and project requirements.
- Deploy and implement solutions, supporting change management practices.
- Create and maintain documentation in accordance with best practice and organisational requirements.
- Support multiple contemporary or legacy solutions to required levels of service.
- Apply organisational policies and legislation in relation to security requirements, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Communicate using a variety of tools and approaches, adapting language for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Apply continuous professional development CPD to support their own learning, business needs and technical developments.

Training schedule
- You will undertake the IT solutions technician Apprenticeship over 18 months.
- Your training will be a combination of on-the-job training and off-the-job learning via online classes and workshops with the Education and Training Board.
- You will be released from the workplace to participate in the online classes.
- You will be assigned a dedicated workplace mentor who will be there to support you throughout the programme offering guidance and making sure that all aspects of your learning follow the structured training plan.
- This is an “earn and learn” programme and upon successful completion you will gain a recognised Level 3 IT solutions technician qualification and will be eligible to progress on to higher levels.
Essential qualifications
GCSE in:
- English (grade 4)
- Maths (grade 4)

Other requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong interest in technology, digital transformation and automation.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Analytical thinker with structured problem-solving capability.
- Desire to learn about AI, cloud services and IT solution delivery
- A willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills.
- Drive to achieve a professional IT solutions technician qualification (Level 3).
- Ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to take on new challenges.
- A proactive approach to learning and continuous personal development.
- Creative thinker able to approach tasks with “fresh eyes”.
- Any previous experience (work, volunteering, hobbies, or personal projects) involving IT or technology would be beneficial.
