IT Controls & SOX Lead

Leading FTSE 100 business

Birmingham – Hybrid (2 days per week)

Up to £85,000 - £95,000 + bonus + benefits

Astrum Search is supporting a leading international organisation in the appointment of an experienced IT Controls & SOX Lead.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of the technology controls environment within a complex organisation, helping to strengthen the governance framework and ensure robust compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

Working across Technology, Finance, Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit, you will play a key role in developing and embedding a sustainable IT controls framework, whilst providing insight and challenge to senior stakeholders across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the organisation's IT SOX and technology controls programme
  • Define and maintain the scope of systems, applications and technology processes subject to SOX
  • Develop and enhance the IT General Controls framework across access, change, operations, resilience and development environments
  • Lead control risk assessments, walkthroughs, testing and ongoing monitoring
  • Identify weaknesses within the control environment and work with stakeholders to develop and implement effective remediation
  • Partner with Technology and business teams to ensure controls are practical, sustainable and appropriately evidenced
  • Provide guidance to control owners on control design, effectiveness and SOX requirements

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong experience across IT SOX, ITGC, IT Risk, Technology Controls or IT Audit
  • Proven experience implementing and embedding SOX / ITGC controls, rather than solely testing them
  • Strong understanding of IT General Controls, including access management, change management and IT operations
  • Experience identifying control deficiencies and driving remediation through to completion
  • Comfortable working across both technical and business environments
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence senior colleagues
