With technology playing a key role in its day-to-day operations, SecuriGroup is looking for an enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join its Glasgow-based IT team. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in IT, gaining hands-on experience and developing practical technical skills within a growing organisation.
About the role
Working under the guidance of IT colleagues, the IT Support Apprentice will provide predominantly first-line support to internal organisation users. The role will build practical technical, customer-service and problem-solving skills while contributing to the reliable day-to-day operation of the organisation’s IT services.
Responsibilities
- Triage, prioritise and update service desk tickets, communicating effectively with end users.
- Provide supported first-line assistance to organisation users across a range of platforms.
- Troubleshoot common support issues, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Prepare, configure and issue IT equipment, maintaining accurate asset, stock and equipment records.
- Support and administer business-critical applications under guidance.
- Assist with basic information security and compliance activities, following SecuriGroup policies.

Required skills
- A genuine interest in IT and a willingness to learn new systems, technologies and working practices.
- A helpful, patient and professional approach to customer service.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain information in straightforward terms.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a logical approach to investigating issues.
- Effective organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to manage several tasks with support.
- The ability to work positively as part of a team and to ask for guidance when required.
- Commitment to completing apprenticeship learning and portfolio requirements.
Desirable experience
- Personal, academic, voluntary or work-based experience with IT.
- Familiarity with workplace productivity tools, service desks or common operating systems.
- Experience of helping others use technology or explaining technical information.
- An awareness of cyber security, data protection or safe working practices.

Working hours
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
Future prospects
Subject to performance and successful completion of the apprenticeship, a permanent contract may be available including opportunities for further development.

This vocational apprenticeship comprehensively supports your specific job role with this particular employer. Throughout your learning journey, you are fully supported by your dedicated QA skills coach and your mentor at work. They ensure you settle in, help you develop all the skills you need to be successful in your job role and pass your assessments, and can provide one to one support.
Starting with insights into your current potential, they plan your growth in a programmatic way, close skills gaps with immersive training and ensure what you learn is applicable to what you do. They talk you through the specifics on the qualifications you gain and how they align in particular to your day to day role.
On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you get a nationally recognised qualification at SCQF Level 6.
