QA is recruiting on behalf of One IT Services and Solutions for an Apprentice Technical Support Engineer to join their ICT team.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a real IT environment while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. You’ll work alongside experienced IT professionals, supporting the technology used across schools and developing practical skills across IT support, networking, devices, Microsoft 365, and infrastructure.
About the role:
As an Apprentice Technical Support Engineer, you’ll be part of a team responsible for the delivery and support of ICT servers, networks, hardware, software, and end-user technology across schools.
You’ll receive support and guidance from experienced members of the team while developing your technical knowledge and confidence.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day technical support to schools and helping resolve ICT issues
- Installing, configuring, and supporting servers, networks, computers, devices, and software
- Responding to incidents and requests through the ICT Helpdesk
- Supporting the maintenance and smooth operation of school networks
- Managing user and computer accounts across Active Directory, Open Directory, and Microsoft 365
- Helping to ensure school servers are backed up correctly and in line with relevant policies
- Checking that anti-virus and security software is configured and working correctly
- Supporting the deployment of apps and devices using Mobile Device Management (MDM) software
- Assisting with website filtering and e-safety controls under the guidance of senior colleagues
- Supporting the management of ICT equipment throughout its lifecycle, including the appropriate disposal of redundant equipment

What we’re looking for:
You don’t need to be an experienced IT professional – this is an apprenticeship designed to help you learn and develop.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in IT and technology
- Enjoys problem-solving and learning how things work
- Is a confident and clear communicator
- Has a professional and friendly telephone manner
- Works well as part of a team
- Is happy to provide assistance and support to colleagues and customers
- Is keen to learn new technical skills and develop a career within IT
- Understands the importance of providing a high standard of customer service
- Has a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle on a daily basis (desirable)

The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject
Working hours:
37 hours a week, 8am - 4pm, 8.30am - 4.30pm, or 9am - 5pm
Future prospects:
90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.
