About The Role

We are currently seeking a dedicated IT Support Engineer for a 6-month contract based in Dereham. This role involves providing comprehensive technical support within a Microsoft environment, supporting users at the 2nd Line level, and managing the entire Joiners, Leavers, and Movers (JLM) process. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, supporting both office-based and manufacturing users, and ensuring seamless IT operations across the organization. This position requires a proactive individual who is comfortable working on-site, moving around the business premises, and delivering deskside support when necessary. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic environment, supporting diverse user needs and contributing to the organization’s technological efficiency.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in IT support with relevant industry experience. Essential qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration and end-user support
  • Experience using ITSM or Service Desk ticketing systems
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and standard business applications
  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Previous experience working within the manufacturing sector is advantageous but not mandatory

A proactive problem-solving approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are highly valued qualities for this position.

Responsibilities

The IT Support Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Providing timely and effective 1st and 2nd Line support to both local and remote users
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and Microsoft 365-related issues through deskside support and ITSM ticketing systems
  • Taking ownership of support tickets from initial logging through to resolution, ensuring all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met
  • Managing the JLM lifecycle, involving account creation, hardware provisioning, permissions management, and onboarding procedures
  • Configuring, deploying, and supporting laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Office
  • Maintaining accurate documentation, updating knowledge articles, assisting with hardware builds, asset management, workstation moves, and providing exceptional customer service to a diverse user base across office and manufacturing environments
