We are looking for a IT Support Engineer to join the National Theatre IT Team.

As a member of the IT Helpdesk team, you will be responsible for supporting the vast range of technologies deployed across our multiple London based sites, whilst projecting a positive and welcoming attitude to our colleagues in need of support.

This role is a technology-based customer service role and requires building an excellent rapport with people around the building. The right candidate will need to be approachable, attentive and welcoming in addition to holding strong logical and technical troubleshooting skills. A day at work generally includes proactive management and triage of tickets raised through our Helpdesk platform, FreshService. It could also include the initial troubleshooting of computer systems and where necessary taking ownership over the escalation process to a 3rd party vendor or the Infrastructure team. As an IT Support Engineer, you could also have an opportunity to be involved in some project work - including large scale software deployments, processes, and improvements to the capabilities on new or existing systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
