IT Support Engineer (Help Desk)

Location: West Malling

Rate: GBP25.00 - GBP30.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Duration: 2-3 Month Temporary Contract

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (shift rota between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm)

Are you an experienced IT Support Engineer looking for your next contract opportunity? We're recruiting for a hands-on Help Desk professional to join a busy IT team, providing first and second line technical support across a varied desktop environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working directly with users, and getting involved in a broad range of desktop support, hardware deployment, and Microsoft technologies.

What you'll be doing

  • Providing first and second line IT support via the help desk.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Logging, prioritising, and managing support tickets through to resolution.
  • Installing and configuring PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Supporting Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and Intune environments.
  • Providing remote support to end users.
  • Assisting with desktop builds, imaging, and device deployments.
  • Supporting basic networking, server administration, and security tasks where required.
  • Maintaining IT assets, documentation, and inventory records.
  • Delivering excellent customer service while working to agreed service levels.

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience in an IT Support, Service Desk, or Help Desk role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience supporting PCs, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Good troubleshooting and fault-finding skills across hardware and software.
  • Familiarity with Outlook, Exchange Online, Teams, and Intune would be highly desirable.
  • An understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP) and basic server environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable with hands-on hardware installations and equipment deployment.
