Role Description

The IT Support, ITIL & Automation Specialist role is a hybrid position based in the UK, with flexibility to work from home part of the time. This role is responsible for providing day-to-day technical and help desk support to internal users, including troubleshooting issues related to desktop computers, applications, and core information technology services. The specialist will handle incident and request management following ITIL best practices, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with stakeholders.

Daily activities include:

  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software problems.
  • Maintaining documentation of support procedures.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identifying opportunities for automation.
  • Assisting with the implementation of scripts or tools to streamline support processes.
  • Collaborating with other IT team members to enhance overall service quality.

Qualifications

  • Strong technical support and help desk support skills, with the ability to manage user requests and incidents effectively.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving issues across desktop computers and core information technology systems.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and experience applying structured service management processes.
  • Comfort with basic automation concepts, such as scripting or using tools to streamline routine IT support tasks.
  • Solid understanding of Windows and/or macOS environments, standard office applications, and network fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple support tickets.
  • Experience in a hybrid work setting and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Relevant certification or training (e.g., ITIL Foundation, CompTIA A+, or similar) is an advantage.
  • Prior experience in an IT support or service desk role, ideally within a professional services or corporate environment.
