Umbrella - £20.51 per hour - Umbrella
Job Purpose
As an IT Support Officer, you will provide first-line technical support and service desk assistance to users across Rochford District Council. Working within the Digital, Data & Technology team, you will help deliver high-quality IT services, support Microsoft-based technologies, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with hardware deployment and maintenance.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
- Provide first-line IT support to end users.
- Respond to service desk incidents and requests.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues.
- Deliver excellent customer service and technical support.
- Support Microsoft technologies and cloud-based services.
- Configure, deploy, and decommission IT equipment.
- Maintain and update IT assets and records.
- Escalate complex technical issues when required.
- Assist with user account administration and system access.
- Support Digital, Data & Technology service delivery.
- Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, and peripheral issues.
- Assist with software installations and updates.
- Work collaboratively with Technical Analysts and the wider IT team.
- Maintain accurate service desk records and documentation.

Essential Experience Required
- Previous experience in an IT Support, IT Service Desk, Helpdesk, or Technical Support role.
- Experience providing first-line technical support.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Experience supporting Microsoft technologies.
- Experience configuring and deploying IT equipment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Experience working within a busy support environment.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Experience maintaining accurate support records and documentation.

Essential Qualifications Required
- Relevant IT Support or Technical Support experience.
- Good understanding of Microsoft technologies.
- Right to Work in the UK.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
- ITIL knowledge or certification.
- Experience supporting cloud-based technologies.
- Experience working within Local Government or Public Sector environments.
Additional Information to Note
- Working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Monday to Thursday: 08:30 - 17:00.
- Friday: 08:30 - 16:30.
- Location: Launchpad, Airport Business Park, Cherry Orchard Way, Rochford, Essex, SS4 1YH.
- Fully office-based role.
- Closing Date: 5th October 2026.
