Job Overview

We are looking for a friendly, practical IT Support Technician to be the point of contact for our staff when they need IT help. You will fix everyday problems, set up users and equipment, and pass more complex issues to the IT Manager/IT Director. This is a great role for someone with solid helpdesk experience who wants to keep learning and grow. It is fully office-based, five days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Helpdesk support

  • Be the point of contact for IT issues, in person, by phone and by email
  • Log, prioritise and resolve tickets within agreed service levels
  • Troubleshoot common hardware, software, printer and login problems
  • Escalate complex issues to the IT Manager or third-party providers

Users and accounts

  • Create, update and disable user accounts in Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
  • Reset passwords, unlock accounts and help users set up MFA
  • Support new starters and leavers, including setting up and collecting equipment
  • Handle simple requests such as mailbox access, shared folders and distribution lists

Devices and equipment

  • Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, phones and peripherals
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot printers, scanners and multifunction devices, including print queues, drivers and toner/supplies
  • Install software and apply updates
  • Keep the hardware and software asset register up to date

Microsoft 365

  • Help staff with Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Assign licences and carry out basic admin tasks

Network and general

  • Carry out basic network checks, such as Wi-Fi and cabling issues
  • Report network, firewall or web server problems to the IT Manager
  • Write simple how-to guides and keep support notes up to date

Essential skills and experience

  • At least 2–3 years' experience in an IT support or helpdesk role
  • Good working knowledge of Windows desktop and Microsoft 365 apps
  • Basic understanding of user accounts, passwords and permissions
  • Basic understanding of networking, such as IP addresses, Wi-Fi and DNS
  • A logical, patient approach to fixing problems
  • Able to work on site five days per week
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable skills

  • Experience with Active Directory or Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Experience using Autotask PSA for ticketing and time tracking
  • Experience using IT Glue for documentation and password management
  • Data cabling, cctv installation and operation
  • Some exposure to Intune or other device management tools
  • An interest in learning networking, firewalls or scripting
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Fundamentals (MS-900) or similar

  • Friendly, approachable and customer-focused
  • Clear communicator who can explain things simply to non-technical colleagues
  • Well organised and calm when juggling several requests
  • Keen to learn and happy to ask for help when needed
  • Careful with security and attention to detail

This role is based on site five days per week; remote or hybrid working is not available. You may occasionally need to travel to our other depots to support staff and equipment on site. Full training will be provided.

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year.
