About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Engineer to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in a diverse, customer-facing environment supporting primary schools across Hertfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing onsite and remote technical support, assisting in maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of IT systems, hardware, and network configurations. The role involves direct interaction with educational staff and students, ensuring their technology needs are met efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with senior engineers and IT managers, receiving comprehensive training to enhance your technical skills and knowledge. The position involves visiting schools during term time for support and maintenance activities, with larger projects scheduled during school holidays to minimize disruption.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a genuine passion for IT and technology, with a proactive approach to problem-solving. While previous IT support experience is advantageous, it is not a requirement, as we provide full training to the right candidate. Essential qualifications include a basic understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, networking fundamentals, and PC hardware components. A full UK driving license and access to personal transport are mandatory, as travel between multiple school sites is a core aspect of the role. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are crucial to succeed in this position, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Providing onsite and remote technical support to primary schools, addressing hardware, software, and network issues promptly and professionally.
  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software systems.
  • Troubleshooting network connectivity problems and ensuring reliable internet access for staff and students.
  • Supporting the setup and management of user accounts, permissions, and email systems.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of support activities, system configurations, and asset inventories.
  • Participating in scheduled maintenance and upgrades during school holidays to minimize disruption.
  • Collaborating with senior team members to implement new technology solutions and improve existing systems.
  • Providing training and guidance to end-users to enhance their understanding and effective use of technology tools.
