IT Support Technician

Location: Lingfield, Surrey

Salary: £26,500 to £27,500

Hours: 40 hours per week

Holiday: 22 days plus bank holidays

MFK Recruitment is proud to be working with a well-established and growing technology business that provides specialist IT services to the education sector.

We have recruited 45 IT professionals into this company over the past six years, and 32 are still working there today, which speaks volumes about the culture, progression, and support they provide.

We are seeking an enthusiastic IT Support Technician to join their onsite education team in Surrey. Working alongside an experienced Senior IT Engineer, you will provide first-line technical support to staff and students while helping to maintain the organisation’s IT systems, devices, and network.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning their IT career or looking to develop their existing support experience. Home projects and self-taught technical knowledge will also be considered.

IT Support Technician – Responsibilities:

  • Resolve first-line IT support tickets through the helpdesk
  • Provide friendly technical support to staff and students
  • Install software and upgrade existing applications
  • Test, diagnose, and repair laptops, desktops, and other IT equipment
  • Assist with the maintenance of the network and wider IT infrastructure
  • Carry out routine maintenance of classroom technology
  • Maintain and manage hardware and peripherals
  • Ensure IT systems and devices are secure and appropriate for student use
  • Escalate more complex technical issues when required
  • Maintain clear and accurate support records

IT Support Technician – Requirements:

  • Previous IT experience or evidence of personal IT projects
  • A genuine passion for technology and problem-solving
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A friendly, patient, and approachable manner
  • The confidence to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • A willingness to learn, train, and progress
  • GCSEs in English and Maths
  • An IT qualification such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft MS-900, or equivalent would be beneficial
