IT Support Technician / Onsite Engineer

Work Location:
Worcester (Primary Site) with travel across Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Bristol and surrounding areas

Working Pattern:
Worcester (3 days per week) with regular travel (2 days per week) to sites across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Bristol to provide onsite IT support and project assistance.

Applicants based in Cheltenham or Gloucester are particularly encouraged to apply due to the geographical coverage of the region.

Car Allowance:
£400 per month car allowance

Contract Type:
12 month FTC

UK Security Clearance (SC):
Required (sponsored by CDW, subject to successful clearance)

Due to the nature of the customer environment, successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC (Security Check) and NPPV clearance. CDW will sponsor the clearance process for suitable candidates. Employment is subject to successfully obtaining the required security clearances.

About the Role

CDW is looking for a motivated and customer-focused IT Support Technician / Onsite Engineer to support a specialist policing environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an IT professional looking to develop their career within a secure and technically diverse environment. The successful candidate will be primarily based in Worcester, while also supporting sites across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Bristol. Candidates based in Cheltenham or Gloucester would be ideally located for the territory.

You'll work closely with customers and colleagues, providing a mix of desktop support, hardware maintenance, project assistance and day-to-day operational support. Full training will be provided, including manufacturer accreditations and support in obtaining the required security clearances.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing on-site IT support across police and secure customer locations.
  • Supporting Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
  • Troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
  • Performing break/fix maintenance and hardware replacements.
  • Supporting Windows Server administration activities including Active Directory, DNS and DHCP.
  • Assisting with office moves, equipment installations and workstation deployments.
  • Carrying out system monitoring, antivirus checks and storage management tasks.
  • Maintaining accurate ticket updates and documentation.
  • Supporting project work and providing cover at customer sites across the region.
  • Working independently while delivering excellent customer service.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience in IT Support, Service Desk, Field Engineering or Desktop Support.
  • Good understanding of:
    • Windows 10/11
    • Windows Server
    • Networking fundamentals
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel between customer sites.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC/NPPV).
  • Located within a reasonable commute of Worcester, ideally within one hour.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a secure or public sector environment.
  • Experience supporting Lenovo, HP or Dell hardware.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory administration.
  • Exposure to field engineering or multi-site support environments.
