Position: IT Support Technician

Great opportunity to join our team as IT Support Technician!

As part of our IT team, you’ll be instrumental in delivering first-rate customer service and technical support to our internal users, contributing to the maintenance, reliability and improvement of the company’s software, hardware and business systems environment. You will demonstrate the ability to prioritise your workload based on logged incidents and faults, take ownership of assigned helpdesk tickets, use sound judgement to resolve or escalate issues appropriately, and provide guidance to more junior colleagues where required. You’ll work in close collaboration with our IT Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional IT software, hardware and business systems support, resolving first-line and appropriately scoped second-line incidents
  • Support Business IT development and improvement activity as required, applying technical and business knowledge to practical issues
  • Strive for continuous improvement by questioning existing processes and utilising available tools to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and user experience
  • Assist with and, where appropriate, take ownership of assigned IT project tasks or workstreams as directed by the IT Manager or Head of IT and Systems
  • Provide guidance and practical support to junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and escalating matters appropriately
  • Maintain accurate ticket updates, documentation and handover notes to support service continuity and effective team working

Requirements

Essential

  • Formal IT qualification, relevant technical/business experience, or equivalent knowledge such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft certification or demonstrable practical experience
  • Good general IT background with practical experience supporting hardware, software, users and business systems
  • Ability to prioritise workload based on logged incidents, faults, business impact and agreed service expectations
  • Able to take ownership of assigned helpdesk tickets, investigate logically, communicate clearly, document actions, and ensure resolution or escalation in a timely manner
  • Professional, proactive and can-do attitude with the confidence to challenge, improve and escalate appropriately
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and provide practical guidance or knowledge-sharing to junior colleagues where required
  • Effective communication skills at all levels, including the ability to translate technical issues into clear business language
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Demonstrates a methodical approach to troubleshooting IT issues, identifying root cause and reducing repeat incidents
  • Experience of working with ticketing systems, IT documentation, endpoint support or business applications
  • Current full driving licence
