Systems Administrator
4 Days On-Site / Hybrid
Cambridge
The Opportunity
As Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance and support of a hybrid IT environment spanning on-premise and cloud-based services. You'll work closely with infrastructure colleagues, support technicians and key stakeholders to ensure systems remain secure, resilient and fit for purpose.
You'll also act as a senior technical escalation point, mentor junior members of the team and contribute to the ongoing improvement of IT services and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Administration
- Support and maintain virtual and physical infrastructure environments.
- Administer and manage server, storage and network systems.
- Configure and manage backup solutions.
- Manage endpoint deployments and device administration.
- Maintain system security, performance and compliance standards.
- Oversee asset management, hardware auditing and software licensing compliance.

Microsoft 365 & Cloud Services
- Support and administer Microsoft 365 services.
- Manage Microsoft Entra ID and Intune environments.
- Support Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams.
- Assist with endpoint management and security policy implementation.
Second-Line Technical Support
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical incidents.
- Troubleshoot advanced workstation, hardware and software issues.
- Support specialist business applications and bespoke systems.
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of infrastructure-related issues.
- Diagnose networking, wireless and connectivity problems.

Application & Patch Management
- Review, test and deploy software updates and patches.
- Ensure applications remain secure and operational.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in infrastructure improvement projects.
- Research emerging technologies and recommend best practices.
- Collaborate with external partners and wider technology teams.
